sculpture extensions!

she did a square round on my finger.

and the c curve is superb!

plus, her filing is top notch.

my version of the sculpture nails.

cheated cause i filed off the sides for the nails to become rounded.

i didn't put enough acrylic on the sides. X:

FAILED!

and thanks to my brainless-ness,

i've filed the sides of one of my fingers with the nail file.

it reminded me of super deep paper cuts.

& the time when i cut myself along a steel cabinet.

ps: i feel like a failure after the past few lessons. am starting to doubt myself. ):

overlay classes!

this was our overlay extension class

where we had to fit the tip to our fingers.

all our nail plates looked super dry and ugly cause

we had to offshine and put dehydrator on the them.

this will prep the nail for longer lasting extensions.

and we did the acrylic ball picking session.

followed by the fixing the extensions to the fake hand.

and the filing.

which i nearly literally cried in class.

cause it reminded me of work

where the higher management keep going back and forth.

and jobs are never ending,

tasks are never completed.

it's a lousy feeling. ):

diy nails

me nails for his friend's wedding dinner last sunday. (:

lasted till today and it looks as good as new!

no retouching of top coats,

but a few of the silver pearls came off (expected).

thanks to lihui, for letting me try it out. it was a great boost in confidence, although i think i was lousy in many ways. :p

the french looked pretty decent from a distance. lol! i hope it'll last at least a week or so?

nail art 1c:-

we had a japanese teacher for nail art 1c. (:

free hand drawn 5 petal flowers with different shapes (tear drop, grain, sakura, tulip & leaf).

the flower with the black base has been "altered" by the sinseh, that explains the roundness of the petals and the nicely shaped leaves. :p

purple based was done by yours truly and as you can see, the leaves were very half heartedly painted lo.

nail art 1d:-

this lesson was taught by one of the higher authorities aka joe chua. his requirements were much higher and i knew i did not exhibit enough enthusiasm for the class. boo. partly is cause i feel such drawing is so not my forte.

nevertheless, i did tried, or rather, put in effort to control. (:

we took an hour to draw the one in dark pink. ): i am so utterly untalented in drawing on such a tiny canvas. sigh!

i shall take the effort to polish up my skills in the control of the tiny brush!

on a lighter note, i got my estessimo tins polishes!!!!! ♥

i usually get my stuff from regine at dollupnails. (: she has superb service (emails are replied within 24hours) and of stuff to choose from!

am going to remove my minnie mouse nails and swatch the polishes on later! *excited*!

nail art 1a & 1b

the past 2 lessons were on nail art. finally we're out of the basics and it's time for some art that we see on magazines. (:

we had to do a french that's curved on one side. and being me (i think it's occupation hazard), my line is straight! lol! creative french is together with the pasting of blings.

next up was checkereds. we took a long time in drawing the lines, making it thick and straight is no easy feat. especially with wobbly hands. but the lucky thing is, it does get better with more practice! (:

the lesson yesterday was slightly more demanding, with us learning 7 different ways to create nail arts.

1. dotting

dotting was of no major issues to most of us, even amateurs like me! just grab a nail art pen, squeeze and viola! we were to dot dots from big to small and five petal flowers.

2. outlining tear drop shape

the assignment was to control the nail art pen, outline & fill it with colour. (: a tear drop shape may seem simple, but to get it really rounded and with sharp edges, it takes more than just creativity.

3. round shape

cherries! (: there was a one time crazy over nail art of this design, and that was during my uni days. one of the cozycot pioneers had hers done, and everyone of us were ooo-ing and ahhh-ing over it. uber sweetness for any occasion. i did one in white base, but i think i left it in school (aka gone for good).

4. heart shape

the teacher was amazed by the whole class, cause this was like the only shape we had to draw and no one seems to have any difficulty with. lol! eva commented that we must have written too many love letters. :p

5. ribbons

my ribbon looked like a dragon fly loh. so sad. i think i need to go search for ribbon prints and improve.

*ps: i forgot to take a photo of it. anyway, it's too ugly.

6. animal preeeeens!

a - leopard

leopard prints were the easiest of the lot. (it's even easier than heart shape!) with a nice base colour, just use another colour and dap, outline and it's done. no hard and fast rules. (:

b - zebra

i gave up on this one. lol!

this is the one done by the teacher.

just compare and you'll know why i gave up.

to quote the teacher:

"this is painting 2 colours with one and creating edges on both colours

AND! making sure the colours are parallel".

anyway, i tried minnie mouse french on my left hand. (: love it! i've always thought dotting was haphazardly done but compare the last 2 fingers (anyhow done) and the middle finger to thumb. look carefully, and you'll notice the difference. (:
